Frank has been totally blind since he was fifteen. He made this yesterday from a REALLY gnarly piece of desert ironwood. I put the turquoise into it for him, but he did all the turning and finishing with just a little help from one of my instructors, who is visually impaired himself. It will be auctioned next week for a fundraiser for the center.

You do such nice work - helping folks with special needs. Please tell Frank that he did a beautiful job (and that I own two of their pepper mills).

Thanks Tony. Actually, I think Frank may have turned one of your pepper mills, as well. He has been turning for almost four years now.

Here is his picture, along with the first pen stand and pen he made a couple of years ago. It was his first desert ironwood turning. It is his favorite wood to turn.

What really makes me sad is that most of my turners have no idea how beautiful the things they make are.
