Greetings
I started a new job in Oct after being out of work since January. I landed with a great company doing what I love and I get to work from home. The meant I had to set up a work space. Good: WFH allows me to use more pens than my office job, Bad: My pens were kinda thrown around omg my desk so I needed to get organized. After much consideration and prototyping I decided that I wanted them easily accessible so this is what I came up with. It basically lines up the pens in the same spot they were haphazardly placed before.

It began as a rough bandsaw milled piece of walnut scrap. After some handplaning I set it up on the mill and cut the slots. I flocked the slots so the pens wouldn't get scuffed up. I think it looked better before the flocking. My painting is uneven so the slots look sloppy. But it works just as I hoped.

Thanks for lookin'

I like the idea but have a question. Why did you choose the taper slot, obviously giving an angle, vs a straight slot for the pens to rest in? Was it simply an aesthetic reason or functional?

Last pen on the right sings

Peter.
totally agree Peter, although the blue one mid range catches my eye too...

I thin’ we need some more detailed close ups here please ??

I do like the stand though and the flocking adds to the appeal IMHO

Thanks for the kind words.
Peter,
Thanks, I posted the buckeye burl pencil here: https://www.penturners.org/threads/one-piece-pencil.167541/
Darrin,
I would be honored and knowing your skill it will be great.
Ian,
The second pen from the right is a TWSBI Eco
The 3rd is Mont Blanc 165 rollerball
The fourth is an Alumilite kitless with a Greenwald piston filling mech and a homemade brass clip. https://www.penturners.org/threads/ink-window-and-piston.154420/#post-2017598
And the one on the left is a syringe piston filler I made with a Mackenzie diamond cast blank, o-rings, brass plunger, #5 nib and a hand made aluminum clip. It can be found here: https://www.penturners.org/threads/my-bash-kitless-entry.164088/
Terry,
I think you are right, I prefer green maybe that would lighten it up bit.
Regards,
mike
