This pen was just a Maple blank. Nothing fancy, and it turned out kind of ugly.Posting this because my step son was so happy about helping make it that he asks me every day about making another one:)

Thanks, I showed him the whole process of making a pen. Showed him how to hold the tools etc. He seemed to really enjoy it! Maybe he will take this up as a hobby, instead of video games

Even if he takes up vidio games, one day he will remember making that pen and he will want to take up pen making and turning. It might take a while, sports, friends, other activities, and girls and all the things involved in growing up will distract him. Enjoy it while you can. I missed my oppertunity and now i am making up for it with the grandkids. Mike

Looks good to me. I look forward to teaching my son how to turn a pen. He is very interested in it and always wants to see and inspect my new pens. Enjoy the time you spend with you step son making them.
