Pen for Mother in Law…?

[lshafer]

I decided to make a pen for my mother-in-law, but now I'm questioning if I should give it to her!

Jr Hamilton fountain in gun metal with a super beautiful piece of desert ironwood. I went with the fountain pen because she is really good at calligraphy, so I figured she'd appreciate it. I didn't know that blank was going to look THAT good though!!!

Definitely looks nice! I say go ahead and give it to her. Let her show it off, as I'm sure she'll appreciate it. If you like it that much, just make yourself another one.

Very elegant. You might get some orders from it.

Ironwood from the Sonoran desert is some really gorgeous wood. I used to buy a bunch of it from Bill DeJarnette from Rio Rico but I lost track of him a few years ago. His web page has gone dark, his store on eBay is gone, and his Instagram is gone, and the Linkedin I had for him shows no posts. He was last seen on IAP on September 7, 2023. I'm sure glad I stocked up when I had the chance. His product was top notch! - Dave

I've also made a few pens for friends and family as well that I had second thoughts about keeping, but it always gave me an extra bit of joy to gift them. If you think it's a special pen, just imagine how the recipient will feel about it!
