the bent wire thingy is a better idea i think, i sometime drill with something simliar, the table could be level in both planes, but still not square(perpendicular?) to the drill quill's path of travel.

The table may be level, but if the floor isn't, then it isn't square to the drill press floor. Just a thought......

Not that impressed by this jig. It will need to be repositioned every time you change blank dimensions and I don't think that spring clamp is adequate.

I still like the HF wood screw clamp with a 1/4" hole partly drilled in clamp end. Not only holds blank straight with drill bit but also support blank from drill table. Costs less than $5.00 too.
