Looking for advice on good quality pen boxes.

I like the black card ones at Woodcraft at 4 for $5, they are nice and simple. I bought 100+ of the carbon fibre ones from CSUSA for $4 each but they kept having broken hinges so not terribly happy with those. They are the best ones I've seen so far for the money though.

Looking to pay about $3 per box. I don't charge for the boxes so I don't want it eating into my profits.

Thoughts?

Two thoughts:
1) If you show your pens without the boxes, then just give it to the customer as a place to stick the pen, your thinking is spot on. For any pen under $50, this is probably a
2) If you purchase nicer boxes to display the pen and add to the overall look of "professionalism", it will be at least 10% of the customer's impression, probably closer to 20%. So, choose a box that looks like it should be worth $20, if you are selling a $100 pen (if you PAY $6 or $7, that's ok, as long as it LOOKS LIKE $20).

FWIW,
Ed
