Does anyone make a pen display box with a glass top that holds 2 larger pens like the Cambridge?.. All I can find is a one pen box... I have a set fountian and roller ball that I want to find a desk display for
About a month or so ago my wife and I stopped at one of our local Walmarts. They were having a sidewalk sale so I went over to see what they had. There was about half a pallet of small jewlery boxes with barrel tops and a glass insert framed into the top. It also had a pull out drawer. They where either cherry or black with white felt inside. Sticker price was $10 each. Sale price was $1 each. I took them all. When I got home I removed the jewlery partitions out of the top and cut a 5/8" thick piece of mdf to fit inside. I used a 1/2" core box bit mounted in my router table and cut 5 equaly spaced grooves 1/2" deep with 3/16" spaceing in between. Next I covered the tray with self-adheasive white felt to match the sides. Since the drawer on the bottom was a little bit larger than the top opening, I could fit 6 grooves in it for a total storage of 11 pens. Makes a nice display and takes up very little room. For the dollar I paid for the boxes, I couldn't even buy the hinges. The felt was bought at Hobby Lobby. I allways keep an eye out for rummage sales, sidewalk sales, or going out of business sales. As far as the PSI box is conserned, you can do the same thing. Sometimes you have to think out of the "box" to see what it could be repurposed as. Ken and his son do beautiful lazor boxes with glass tops that fit 2 pens also, and they can be custom lazored. Jim S
