Pen Box finish questions..

I recently received some wormy chestnut :bananen_smilies051: and decided to create a box to show my pens off in.
1st question should I fill the worm holes with wood putty; or CA; or leave them??
My plan is to apply several coats of lacquer to the box which should 'seal' up the holes.
2nd question is it necessary to fill the holes? They really add character to the wood.

maybe this should go in the finish forum; but since it is not a 'pen' I posted it here. :befuddled:

On flatwork, I prefer to leave the wormholes unfilled.

I agree, let the holes lye where they be, and get to work turning your Indian Blanket.

Laquer has it's place, but Poly will be more durable and better suited for a pen box in my opinion.

I would leave the holes open. Then the wood will have it's original character and beauty.
