I believe they used to be available at Craft Supply but were discontinued. I don't know what Timber bits has but in that picture the silver, blue and red colored blanks are actually an aluminized fiberglass mixed material. I think it's just easier for people to refer to them as silver carbon fiber as a generic term.

Here is what Timberbits is selling and these are all the rage. Seen them now on other vendors sites as well. They are not calling carbon fiber but have that look. and are listed in that catagory. It is a cool material. The blue and red is what I am after. I see they have green out there as well.

It looks real sharp on a pen.

I believe I have the product you mention in blue and silver that I bought many years ago. Just never got around to making any pens from it. very tough to work with because it falls apart easily and is fiberglass so it will itch you and need safety gear when working it. But I got it from Composite Envisions I believe. This stuff is different I believe. The blue that Dayacom has is a lighter blue. I do not have the red. This is the material John is talking about.

Is this the same material you're talking about? If so it's cable sleeve cast in clear resin. Primarily fiberglass I think but cuts or melts with a hot knife or wood burning tool.

No I have that and it is a some other material that is not neither carbon fiber or fiberglass. I know they call it carbon fiber but it is not. I believe that is a vinyl of some sort. I made many pens from that stuff.
