Pen #4 - Jr. Gent Rollerball
Kit: Apprentice Jr. Gentlemen's Pen Kit Chrome
Blank: Pen Makers Choice Acrylic Pen Blank White Marble, Custom (blue)
Finish: Sanding/Micromeshing
I had the most issues with turning this pen. I'll just start by saying that I've bought a good sharpening system (manual and electric). Also, I've got paint for the blanks.
I really like the colors together, but you can definitely see the tubing through the white blank. The blue blank did get chipped and I used some CA glue to fill it in, but that was from dulled tools. My first pen turned the easiest and it got progressively harder with dulling tools.
After getting a little frustrated with the micro mesh leaving lines, I tried the wet method and it worked so much better. I'm getting the hang of it. I even bought a super bright light for my little workshop.
Next pen should be amazing, then, right?! (No more excuses!)
(I turned this last week, but I've been pretty busy lately..)
