Peach Tree Down!

What would have taken only one day a few years ago has taken two weeks to get this old, half-dead peach tree down and cleared. Small-diameter tree... but I'm hoping to make a few things from it. Mostly mushrooms. I did put a few blanks aside for pens and possible Shaving Brushes.

Getting old sure does slow things down, but it also increases our enjoyment (at least that is what I keep telling myself).

Very Cool. I'll bet there are some great pieces from this. It's too bad peach trees seem to be so fragile, in our part of the country anyway. We had one when I was in my 20's. It took about 3 years for it to mature enough to bear fruit, then only a couple the first year. The next year it was bountiful - I remember standing under it gorging myself on ripe peaches with juice running down my arms. The next winter a heavy snow destroyed it - great memory for one fall season though! - Dave

I like that idea! A friend of mine cut an Apple tree down one year and the next spring morels popped up right at the stump like a clump of flowers. There were probably 8-10 all growing from the same root.

Im curious if you turn the branches down so far and then how long do they sit to dry?

That depends on the weather... usually. I expect them to move as the dry... sometimes check up. Part of their charm.
