Paying the price...

My new shop has 2 foot thick walls rated at R65. I am hoping to not need a heater here in Central Texas. keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm just guessing here that, with your location and R-rating, you should be able to get away with not heating the shop, but, it might be little too cold in the early mornings and late evenings. I hope it works out for you.

Bought 5 gal. of kerosene and a plastic funnel at Home Depot this week, tab was
$51 + change. It is the heater grade with less smell than the old regular kerosene.

Propane tanks are fairly inexpensive, easy to fill as well. There is a heater you can put on top of them for about $50 or so. Heats quite good, fast and clean.

I have the double version of that. Keeps me decently comfortable if I'm right next to it.

Doesn't make much of a debt in the temp of the room though. But it has joists at 12 then another 4' plus to the roof. :-(
Dan,
You might want to think about putting Visqueen plastic sheeting across the joists for short term; and drywall and insulation long term. should help

plastic sheeting is not a bad idea.

Don't think I would ever do drywall - it's just not that kinda shop. Feels more barn - ish even though it's block walls. Plywood with insulation maybe.

Part of my hesitation too is that I have two big gable widows that I don't want to lose the light from.
