Thanks, I keep telling you that this is therapy for me. I had the funeral of a good church member and friend this past weekend . Part of my personal grief process was dealt w/ in the shop.
Pastor Bill I too love turning the Patriots/Atlas pens. It's one kit that really shows off a nice piece of wood....or "eye candy" as so many here like to call it!
The only fix I know of is to take the thing apart and put it back on the lathe. You could use a parting tool to cut off a little section and splice on a contrasting wood or you could scrape together some fine sanding dust from the same or similar blank and use superglue to fill it in, turn it lightly with a skew then refinish the pen.
Very nicely done Pastor Bill. Those are beautiful pens. Glad you have a release for your grief process. I use the shop in the same way especially after a long shift in the ER.
Great work Pastorbill, that Boxelder turned out very well. Any chance of a pic of the other side. As some one else asked would be curious if the flame shows on the other side of the pen as well. Very nice work indeed.
Sorry about the loss of your friend. But turning pens is a great theraputic aid. BTW Good looking Polaris pens. I need to get some when they have a special
