No longer confused....
All gave some, some gave all.

Seldom do I get the chance to combine several hobbies into one and is one of those times. I get to show off a US Flag statesmen pen, knife making and my M1 Garand.

In case anyone is wondering this is the US Constitution, see Transcript of the Constitution of the United States - Official Text

This is Patriot Damascus. She is a work in progress and the going is slow but I only bring it out on certain days. In case anyone is wondering the steel content is: 440C, 4800, SA203-E, 1084, 1080, 1095, & Pure Nickel. Being true damascus steel this pattern runs clear through the steel.

This is the billet the blade was cut from. ...

As you can see things have progressed quite far since the initial days of design. As for the uneven coloring that is because there is major cleanup work to do on the blade. Current status is am still undecided about the bolsters.

This is one concept design for this project.

This is another form of patriot damascus. This is for bolster material.

This is my M1 Garand, USGI carried service grade rifle (means that a U.S. Soldier carried it and it was never sent to an ally for use) Before anyone ask no I am not afraid to display the serial number, she is well documented and wide spread in viewings. Also that is a pretty high grade Bastogne walnut stock I have on there.

Now as for assembly goes this laser cut pen can be brutal.
Stars get put into the blue field and 'rolled' in to close the gaps. Then glue is added, either super super thin CA or watered down wood glue. If you are careful and cautious you can have star's left over.

If not then well, you have extras.

Not sure which I like better. The pen is awesome, the knife, very cool, and the garand, just one of the best American guns ever made. Cant go wrong with any of them. But as a fun question which would you say is a more powerful weapon??

Hmmm.

Perhaps this ..

"The pen is mightier than the sword" is a metonymic adage coined by English author Edward Bulwer-Lytton in 1839 for his play Richelieu; Or the Conspiracy.

but also this one comes to mind as well.

Those who beat their swords into plowshares usually end up plowing for those who kept their swords -Benjamin Franklin

So in closing I like to think they are all equal in that arena. AND I will keep all of them thank you very much.

Larry Donnely forged that. It took him something like 3 weeks to do it. The mosaic us flag (1-3/4, 1-3/16 x .120 ) was done by Robert Eggerling.

I doubt that I will be going to the blade show.

In times of peace the pen is by far the most powerful weapon but that peace will rarely persist without the rifle. It is only through the freedoms earned and protected with the rifle that words have any weight. The rifle allows the pen to be a weapon. Without the rifle the pen is just a short, blunt dagger.
