Hello all,
This post is to kick a few ideas around for the second round of the Pass It Forward serial trade.
I didn't want to clutter the existing trade thread while getting some feedback. The ideas are a combination of lessons learned, feedback from others, and random thoughts all my own.
Please read through the ideas and give me your thoughts as well as add any ideas you might have.
1) IAP sponsorship - one of the things I got a lot of positive feedback on was the $5 "entry fee" being a fundraiser for the IAP. A possible modification was to up the fee to $10.
2) Sponsorships - a question was sent to me via PM to see if there is anyway to allow IAP vendors to contribute to the original box via a donation of a discount card or item in return for them being listed as a Sponsor of the PIF. The caveat to this is that no more than one sponsor item could be taken out of the box by a recipient.
3) Made items - the idea is that a completed item (tool, pen, or other item made by a participant) be added to the box with the rule that if it is taken it has to be replaced by another made item.
4) Build a pen - the idea is that pen would be built by the participants with each participant completing a step in the pen. In general it would go something like this:
a) 1st participant would contribute a blank
b) 2nd participant would contribute a kit (retail or custom components)
c) 3rd participant would prep blank (round, drill, glue in tubes)
d) 4th would turn to shape
e) 5th would finish
f) Final pen would be auctioned to IAP membership with proceeds going to IAP.
5) Theme - The idea is that each contribution/replacement has to conform to some theme. Examples include Pens for Soldiers, Non-Profits (Susan Komen for example), etc. Not entirely sure how this would work out, but thought it was an interesting idea.
6) Limits - Limit to only one item can be taken/replaced per individual.
7) Penalties (I'm not comfortable with this one, but it was suggested and want to be fair to those who have PM'd me with ideas) - basically, if a participant delays shipping, they have a penalty to pay to IAP.
8) Allow mid-progress entry - The first time out, you couldn't participate unless you were in the original sign up and met the deadlines. It was suggested that folks be allowed to "buy-in" after the trade gets kicked off and put at the end of the line. I have mixed feelings on this simply because of the administrative overhead.
Thanks in advance for the ideas and I'm looking forward to your thoughts.
Take care,
