I had a lumbar fusion on Mar 5 and have has some serious restrictions on movement - bending, twisting, lifting! I'm sure many of you have had the same experience. Still have some of those restrictions but Yesterday my doctor told me I could go back to the shop for a few hours a day and do "light" work. So today I will get to spend some time preparing a few blanks and getting a few pens ready to turn!

It sure is nice to have a hobby or work that is rewarding as making pens, and in general does not require heavy lifting. Glad to hear your doctor is letting you get back to some light work in making pens. Don't overdo it, like I tend to do after a doctors visit.

Been there just a word of caution do not over do it. If they use bone for the fusion until the bone actually starts to grow you can pop the graft out and you have to back into surgery to fix it. Just remember you can not do everything you used to do right now. Trust me you will know when you go to far and will pay for it. Just be careful and in this case the doctor does know best!!
