So not quite a year ago, a good friend of mine who works at the Sterling Heights, MI Woodcraft store. Sold me his LA 200 Delta Midi
(as it sat less than 48 hours ago)
It was a good, no, Outstanding Lathe. Probably turned 150 pens and uncountable number of odd treens spindles etc.
It wasn't until about two months ago that I replaced the belt and a bearing. Big worry was, "was the head and tail stock inline still. It was. ANYHOW... It just wasn't new, ya know. Kinda like getting Dad's hand me downs boots. They're great, broken in, and if you get them covered in mud, oh well...
So about a week ago I went off to see my friend at his work.. I had aspirations of either another Delta, I was turned away because of Delta being purchased by another company and it is not well known if the Lathes will be continued to be made. So I thought about a Rikon... well I was turned away from that. Their Bandsaws are awesome but jury is still out on their lathe.
I Came home with a General International 25-114. it has a 14" swing and 17" between centers. and it has reverse.
Here is a my work area in full view.
I am still getting things reworked in my shop, moving all my Arrow making items out of the way. I will take more photos as I get it completed.
Thanks for looking.
One question though to all... Where does one get a 9" tool rest with a 1" post? I have a 12" from off an old Delta that I will make into a treadle powered unit.
Thanks for your comments.
