Organizing abrasives

After wasting far too much wet/dry paper I thought there must be a better way than just tearing off a small piece from a 8 1/2" X 11" sheet.
I now cut my abrasive sheets into desired size, punch holes in them and using the guts from two loose leaf notebooks am keeping my wet/dry paper organized. How do you organize yours?

I have one of the boxes with 5 rolls. Sits on a shelf. All I do is tear off what I need , about an inch and a half, ... and toss it when I'm done.
 
Clever use of the old 3 ring binders. Thank you for the idea because I have a spare 3 ring binder and have about 7 segregated strips of abrasives held together with little paper clips.

I use 8x11 sheets for most of my stuff and just cut strips from them as needed. I also dont use that much sandpaper to be honest. I have 120 grit (hardly use this at all), 220 grit (most common), 600 grit (2nd most common) then I go 600 grit with novus #3, then to to either novus #3 with a paper towel/rag or 1500 grit, then to novus #3 with fingers.
 
Since my workbench is an old steel office desk, I put file folders in the file drawer for sandpaper. I also keep plans, kit directions, and tool manuals in there as well.

For roll sandpaper, I made up this:

:smile::smile: Ben: I watch for desk top organizers, either plastic or wood, that fit one on top of the other, at rummage and yard sales. A sheet of sandpaper fits perfectly inside. I also picked up a cheep $2 paper cutter at a yard sale. I lay my strips grit down in order from 400 to1200, cut into 1" strips, and then cut these into 3" lengths. Use a tac rag between grits so you don't transfer particles from one grade to another. I find this size enough to do both barrels of a pen. Throw them away when you are finished. I keep the stacks on a shelf next to my lathe within easy reach. Jim S
