Saw an add for a Nova Comet ii lathe that has a drive on the end of the hesd stock for accessories like grinder, tool sharpener, wire brush and disk and belt sander. Any Good?
I burned up 2 of them in normal usage. They stood behind their warranty,.....quite a ways back, but DID make good on both machines. I ended up with the NOVA DVR 2024" and it is better than Superb!
I am on the fence been reading all the reviews I can. I have Prime shipping with Amazon so it would be here Tuesday but don't want to pay the sales tax. but that is a political decision. I would order the accessories at the same time for the free shipping. I have something like 54 hours to make up my mind to get it here by Tuesday. That means it is in stock either in Nevada or 60 miles from here at Amazon new facility. So i will probably bite bullet and get it then flip off the capitol next time I am down town.
I have a Nova Comet II and I really like it. Only had it a couple of months but it has not given me any problems. I do not have any of the accessories with it but I don't need them either. I don't know what all is really available besides the grinder wheel. I prefer the hand wheel there anyway so I do not plan on getting any accessories.
Its smooth and quite. Plenty of power for pens and small turnings. I love the variable speed, I just wish it had a display to tell the speed, but that's just because I like to know exactly. There is a scale on the speed adjustment knob that will get you as close as you'll ever need. I like the tailstock lock is on the end rather than back so you do not have to reach over it. I am very pleased with mine and would buy again. Hope this helps!
After a long conversation with my self, I have decided not to jump now. I haven't been turning enough to really justify it. Now if there is a big price drop then maybe. Thanks for your opinions.
Solved the problem. Bought an Earlex HVLP Paint System. Need that more than Lathe, doing a lot of remodeling and I can't paint squat with a brush. Lot woodwork, baseboards and doors to paint Also won't catch lot of *&^# from LOML for buying it,as I can justify it. After I get and floors laid and the trim and doors painted then I can get a new toy.
I have turned probably close to 300 pens on mine without any issues what so ever. Still going strong happy I purchased it and would definitely purchase again. For the money it is a good machine. I didn't even install the coupler just put on the hand wheel and don't even have any desire to use the attachments.
