Wow, there are more memories in that magazine than I can swallow. The issue was put out when I was 6 months old. There is a Dremel electric coping saw advertised in this issue and in 1948 my dad bought me one and I was introduced to woodworking. I probably became a burden the way I went through blades but some of that sawdust got into my blood steam and is still there. Thanks for a real good shot at the past.

Thanks for sharing that, I remember looking through my grandfathers collection of old Popular Mechanics when I was a kid and dreaming of all the things I could make when I got bigger.
 
Interesting how-to article. Did you happen to notice what the operator is using for a cutting tool in one of the illistrations? Today, he would probably be severly chastised for improperly using the wrong tool, back then it was a clever use of a tool! :eek:
