I used Don Wards tutorial to make this pen.
There was a special request. The pen is to be slim. They furnished the Spanish Cedar wood as it was casket material from their pet. No finish as she wanted to be able to smell the wood.
Because Spanish cedar is so soft I was concerned about the nib wearing so I smeared the inside of the wood with JB-Qwik weld and then used a number drill to get it where the tube just slips in.
Hopefully this will act as a bearing surface and slow down the wear on the blank at the nib.
Finished to 600 grit abranet and then I used 0000 steel wool. Next was strips of a brown paper bag and I burnished this until the wood glowed.
