We don't mess around over here at the http://www.penturners.org/forum/f70/ball-point-pen-contest-137598/ !!!

Yep, along with the other IAP prizes, one of these is going home with the top 3 winners in the http://www.penturners.org/forum/f70/ball-point-pen-contest-137598/ .

They don't hold a candle to the iconic ceramic IAP Birthday Bash mugs that are sought after by people
from all over the globe, but they sure bounce around in the car a lot better.

The winners of these will now be able to enjoy their morning beverage in a IAP Birthday Bash ceramic mug
found here http://www.penturners.org/forum/f18/mug-number-reservations-137913/ then take their re-fill on the road with them for their daily travels.

Just one more way the http://www.penturners.org/forum/f70/ball-point-pen-contest-137598/ is helping you keep the IAP with you all day long !

So, what are you waiting for? The longer you keep reading this ridiculous announcement, the less time
you will have out in the shop creating your own personal work of art.......so get going !!!
The contest opens on February 1st.....

Good luck everyone! We can't wait to see what you create !
Bob

Now that I have access to really nice equipment, it would be easier to make one than making a pen and hope to win one. I might have considered donating some logoed items, but.....well you know.

H2O... Several years ago we had folks that did not post "in the spirit of good will" during the BASH, and it was a shame :frown:. PLEASE try to be positive, without sarcasm. These activities are intended to be in good spirit; and you are welcome to join in these activities.

Bob, these are cool and good of you to do!

H2O I'm sure you could come up with something awesome. Go for it! The Bash is all about the members pitching in, I try to help a little each year, although like usual with this site each time I give I somehow end up with more.

Well, by all means make some. I don't have any patent on these, I just like to make them and give them away to nice people. Maybe you can do them same.
Have a nice day~

I find that really hard to believe, especially after your other post.
I would place an entry and the executive team would eighty-six it before they opened it.
I'm always positive...you just can't see it from your side of the monitor.
I truly would have considered donating items. I even posted a pic of a pen from the front page that I intended to engrave and send to the creator of the pen and intended to do that for the future creators of the pens that made the front page, but there was no interest.

New people here, don't stand a chance.

It's rather unfortunate you seem to have such a large chip on your shoulder--it appears to cause you to post off kilter.
If you pretend to believe (a) there is no illuminati or cabal here and (b) it's a very friendly forum group, you would most likely find both turn out to be true.

I would like to take this time to address a couple of things for those newer Members reading this thread that have not been here long enough to have participated in the prior Birthday Bash or Summer Extravaganza competitions.

1- All entries to a contest regardless of the maker are posted in the contest they are entered in. Your entry will need to be made within the guidelines and rules of the contest your entering.
2-Members vote in Polls held at the end of the competition to determine the winners in the contests. Trash talking contests are decided by the hosting chairman.
3- We have competitions for all level of pen makers. New or old, just starting out or seasoned vet. Your entry is judged on its own merits, the maker is not identified until after the contest is over.
4- All members are welcome to enter and we encourage you to do so just for the fun of it. Your chances in winning are based on your ability to design and make a pen.
The only real way to lose is to not participate.
Good luck to all of you that do decide to enter and I will see you at the Birthday Bash

Things can seem cloudy if you're looking through dirty glasses! There's no conspiracy or cabal aligned against anyone - but if you want to see one, you'll see black helicopters everywhere! Contests are generally decided by 'blind vote' by the members...

The only requirement to participate in the Bash contests is to list your full name and location...so that's the only impediment to you taking part, if you want!

Hey, Bob, that's cool! I'm going to have to double my effort this year to match my good fortune last year. I'm proof that "new" people have a chance, although I don't know how to measure "newness." I'm still below 200 pens made.

I'd say that new people stand a chance if they spend less time wallowing in self-pity, self-loathing, and sanctimonious lecturing, and spend more time making pens, learning new techniques, and offering encouragement to others.

Just a little piece of trivia for those of you who are undecided.......one of the winners of last years' Summer Extravaganza Ball Point Pen contest was Seth Roland who is a high school student and had only been a member of the IAP for 2 months. He certainly did not let anyone scare him off because he was new or young....he came out swinging! http://www.penturners.org/forum/f299/results-ball-point-pen-contest-134705/ This shows you what is possible if you put your mind to it.....and a sharp chisel!

ANYONE CAN ENTER AND ANYONE CAN WIN...NO MATTER WHAT RUMORS YOU HAVE HEARD !!!!!

That is a nice gesture Bob. I don't think I am going to enter the ballpoint contest this year but those mugs are cool.

Sorry if my questions are off-topic: Does the insert slip out on those so they can go in the dishwasher? Also do you use laser with rotary to make those? Really nice job on those.

The liner does not come out. You can put them in the dishwasher, but as soon as you do you can plan on sending them back to me to re-finish them, so basically NO DISHWASHER  I've had to re-do a bunch for people who forgot they are made out of wood.....

Where is the order link?????????

This goes for everyone else too, quit reading this thread and go out in the shop and make a work of art!
