All work I did on the scroll saw, and Dad made some plugs that I mounted in the blank off center to see if I could make funny shapes in them.

Definitely an interesting blank. The only suggestion I would have is to try and use veneers that are the same thickness as your blade. If you do that, then you'll not get the "disjointed" look where you cut through a veneer with a later cut.

I was afraid I'd have to use math or something to keep that from happening. While I'm okay with the randomness of the disjointed areas, sooner or later I'm going to want an unbroken design. That's good to know.

neat looking blank, but I dont like the plugs. I would choose to leave em out on one and compare em. I think you are on the verge of some very elegant pens my friend.

The plugs are nice, and I debated skipping them, but then I wouldn't have known what they looked like turned. I don't plan on doing them again for a while, as they'd be difficult to do at home. That being said, I think they do have their place. I like them on this one mostly because they added an extra layer of contrast and show a bit more workmanship. It probably would have looked a lot cleaner without them, though.

Allen you have come along ways with your pens. You have made quite a few very unique pens. always like seeing what you come with. Really like this pen. Keep up the good work man.
