One of my bigger customers just asked me if I could supply him with a Cheese plane, he figures 6-10 a month (he does $600.00 to $800.00 wholesale a month right now). So I told him "sure, no sweat". Well I started looking and low and behold I found several vendors who carry them but the price is all over the place. What irritates me is that when I looked further the only one that had an actual photo of the plane was the most expensive ($14.24 on sale vs. $5.95 the cheapest). So now I'm wondering if the $5.95 plane is a piece of junk as I have no way of comparing the two items. So Dear Vendors, if you're going to sell something a written description is nice but include a photo otherwise I can't make an educated comparison. I'm finding this more and more with the "smaller" vendors and I think they're missing out on a lot of potential sales. If anyone has any ideas please share your vendors with me. I'm beyond frustrated now. Thank you in advance for any help.

A Google search for "cheese plane kit" returns pictures of several options.
The $6.00-ish range show a blade going through a ferrule. Looks pretty cheap and a good place for rust and dirty old food to collect.
The $15.00 range appears to be a much nicer design.

Thanks for everyone's ideas. I saw pretty much what everyone posted here when I did my web search yesterday. I can only assume that the cheaper ones are just that, cheap. I was hoping to find a middle of the road plane but after looking at a bunch of them the Rockler and Woodcraft seem to be the best. I've been able to work with Woodcraft on pricing in the past and will give them a try, I just want to make sure I'm not selling my customer a cheap plane.
