So did my income taxes today, usually only takes about a half an hour. Not today. My computer is running windows 7, unbeknown to me, TurboTax now requires windows 8 or later. My sister passed away earlier this year and I was given her laptop, which has windows 10. So I installed it on that. I spent about an hour trying to get it to go online wirelessly, gave up and just hooked it up with an Ethernet cable. Finally able to go online. TurboTax all installed and updated. Started doing my taxes to find out the 9 key doesn't work on the number keypad to the right, thankfully it worked along the top. Taxes done and e filed. Only thing to do is print a hard copy. I have two printers. Printed and got 4 good pages and 9 pages of gibberish. The other printer decided it wasn't going to print at all. So what do you do even something doesn't print? You push the print button again and again and again of course. So I put it on a jump drive and I'll just print it at work. Shut my computer down, well at least tried but it didn't want to shut down. So I did a hard shut down by holding the power button down. Restarted my computer to make sure everything was ok and voila, my printer printed all four hard copies. Sometimes I hate technology. But in the end taxes are done for another year.

I can relate to your frustrations, Ken.

Computers are a mixed blessing ....... damned annoying at times.

I hope all this effort brings you some taxreturns so you can buy some nice wood and kits.

I tend to hark back to what Art Bucholtz said about computers some years back when they first came into vogue....

"Computers make it easy to do a lot of things... but a lot of things computer makes it easy to do, don't need to be done."

Just don't shoot the accountant if you end up owing some money at the end of the process ;)

I've got a great accountant, she's a miracle worker and I always owe which really irks me. Can't speak the same for computers of which I have a love/hate relationship. When I was working my computer gave me problems and I balled up my fist and hit the monitor. BIG! mistake, the screen was like the old glass TV screens and I thought I broke several knuckles. Needless to say my Doc was not impressed and suggested I not do that again. I guess I'm kind of a slow learner.
