Oh boy...what a day, what a ride !!!
As you may already know.... I'm being treated for 2 Big Cs..... Multiple Myeloma and Bowel Cancer.
I'm handling it ok so far.
great news is that i have responded so well to the Myeloma treatment that they have reduced my chemo treatment frequency and reduced the meds. Really happy about that.
As it has been enough weeks since the BC surgery, today they started on the chemo for it.
6 hours in the chair.......
About 3 hours in, the nurse comes and reminds me of the side effects she reckons i WILL have.....
Yadda....yadda...yadda....in one ear and straight out the other...
Don't drink anything cold
don't touch anything cold
Don't breathe anything cold
my eyes start glazing over.......
doesn't this poor child know just how tough this old fart is????
Ok..session ends and we (me and my wife) leave the hospital.
OMG.....one lungful of 4deg Welsh air and i thought I'd have a heart attack.!!!
Throat seizes up, voice raises about 6 octaves and i start gasping like a fat fish out of water!!!
Get to the car and grab the door handle..... Bad idea!!! It hit me like 50 000 volts. It really hurt!!!
I sulked like a kid while my wife drove home in silence.
After dinner, i get out my meds. I like to take them with milk......cold milk.
My smart arse wife suggests i just try a sip first.....
Yadda.....yadda....yadda
Popped the first few tabs in my gob and take a gulp..
OMG....my lips puckered up and my mouth foamed up like a rabid dog!!!!
I had to spit out the works. And welcome back to the gasping and squeaky voice..!!!
My loving darling wife couldn't contain it anymore and rolled around the floor giggling like a child!!!
Moral of the story?
Don't think you know just how tough and marvelous you are.
ha ha...what a day. I learned a lot
