Wow it feels good to finally type on a real keyboard,I would have been by sooner, been home since Sunday, but my Android doesn't get service in the house out here in the country and I have a hard time with a virtual keyboard!
But my My hip works great, I now have a chair that will allow me to sit at a proper torso to leg angle so I don't undo all the fantastic work the Doctors did.
PT is pretty tiring, but I can walk about 160 ft, with out a walker or a cane, I really want to thank every one for the very helpful prayers and kind thoughts and good wishes, I think I could stand long enough to turn a slimline, and finish it the next day, there is so much less pain that I only have to take about 1/3rd the prescribed pain meds, and I think most of that is from being whacked out on them for the past 3 years. Now to ween my self off and Never more shall Opiates cross my lips!!
Peace folks
Ken

This is great news. Do you realize how much close Andrew can stand next to you without the risk of being whacked by the cane? In all seriousness Ken I am pleased to hear things are going well and we are getting our hippy back.

Hi Ken,

Good to hear you are getting around better. I found out last monday that I am a canadate for a new hip. After being in pain for about a year or so my orthopedic Dr. said I needed back surgery so off to the nurosurgeon, he did his thing and took away the worst pain (2010) but still had a limp and hurt. Fast forward to present, different Doc took an x-ray and said he can't believe I am getting around as well as I am. Now I am waiting for an appointment with HIP replacement specialist. Any advise is welcome. I am taking PT before surgery to build up my strength.

Take Care and get well

Tom

Baby steps, Ken, baby steps. Don't stay in pain. It's been proven that we heal faster if we don't hurt. So take it slow and don't over do it!

Listen to Billy... don't rush it... you'll be back to normal sooner than you think.... my wife had her right hip replaced about 3 years ago... never stops to think about it today, watching her walk now is like watching her 20 years ago when we first met.... and the first time I saw her walk was from behind.......

Glad that you are feeling better. It is true that we heal best when not in pain. It is very important if you have been using opiates for such a long time that you slowly wean off of them. I would discuss with your MD so you don't suffer any ill effects.
Hip replacements make a world of difference in quality of life. It will only get better.
Take it one day at a time and keep up the PT
