Hi guys, I've been making lots of olivewood lately. Here's a set of olive burl pen blanks that are pretty nice. There's not a lot of olive burl available. Hope someone can use 'em. : )
OL99, $25.00 + $8.00 to ship = $33.00 total. Olivewood burl pen blanks. Five pieces measure 7/8 x 7/8 x 5" long. Misted pics show two sides. Burl is pretty hard to come by as it grows at the base of the tree, similar to redwood and maple. When/If the tree is cut, new sprouts come from the burl and it continues to grow. Very labor intensive to cut them since the stumpwood is full of voids/bark pockets/dirt/rocks/you get the idea. There may be some hairline checks, easily fillable with CA. These are bandsaw cut, not sanded or planed. Note...last pics shows the rootball where these came from. Lots of voids/dirt/rocks/bark inclusions. Sorta labor intensive but beautiful. : )
