Went to Hattiesburg, MS yesterday to a big outdoor Antique/junk sale. I'm always on the outlook for old watches that don't work to disassemble and use the parts for steampunk projects. Was lucky enough to find these for a dollar apiece. Already got them disassembled and ready to go for the next project.

One of these days I need to thin my supply of watches. Now I buy junk watches and most are battery so I buy for face alone. I do not like putting all those small parts in there. I will use gears only. Just a matter of choice. But I have a ton of Disney and so many watches that I pull from the lots I buy and keep those seperate. Have a ton of junk watches. Before steampunk got popular you could buy junk watches by the pound on ebay for practically nothing. Shipping was the cost. Also flee markets was another source.

What a fantastic discovery! Finding those old watches for your steampunk projects sounds like a real gem. I had a similar experience a few years ago at a flea market where I stumbled upon a box of vintage cameras. It was like uncovering a treasure trove of history waiting to be repurposed into something new and creative.

This is an old post and I did cast the Pooh watch parts in resin for a pen and kind of forgot about it until yesterday, this is the end results. The pen kit is a Baron and used Liquid Diamonds for the resin. Need to cast the other parts and hopefully will not wait so long to make a pen with them.
