I said I was done with these. After thinking it through, I decided to take what I had learned from the first one and finish the 2nd one. This one went really smoothly, no shaking lathe. I added a counterweight and that was the answer for that. As far as cutting air, my bandsaw took care of probably 90 % of that material removal. The lip of the bowl is pretty near perfect, pretty even all the way around. I found it way easier to sand the crannies while still mounted on the lathe, obviously the lathe was not on for this. This is finished with Odie's Oil, it smells wonderful and feels good to touch. I've changed my opinion, it's a fun and rewarding project.
