:D Had a visit tonight from Mama and her babies... Sorry for the bad photo, my camera is set to low res for work and it was at full zoom to get them in the photo.

Here in Central NJ we have huge amount of deer, thats why I call NJ the "Roadkill State". Most mother deers we see here daily have at least two, many even three young ones. Cannot recall having seen such a number of deers in years. I am with Lou, venison is great, especially when it is aged, like we do in Europe. I just wonder why so little is offered in restaurants in the USA. When we lived in Michigan, I saw it only once on the menu, never in NJ or somewhere else. In Germany, most of fall and Winter time one will find venison on the menus.

Wiener(!)schnitzel is breaded, very thin veal. Jaegerschnitzel, is breaded schwein (pork) and served with mushrooms in dark gravy on top, hm, good!! Good stuff I miss here sometimes!!

Lee, thats a great picture, hopefully you had time to sit, watch and enjoy.

Rudy, Just a matter of time before some momma bear comes through your yard with her babies, but lets not go there....

Where we live now, no bear sightings so far, guess too populated. But, I have several colleagues that live in areas where bears are very common (and sometimes come to you porch in search for food). Never saw one myself, however, saw twice tracks on banks of the rivers I was fishing. The bear issue is a topic in every of my TU meetings.
 
Damn things can be a real nuisance, although I admit the fawns are cute. We have way too many where we live and since there are homes in the area, no hunting is allowed. They will eat about anything you try to grow, including flowers. I wife finally found a way to keep them away this year. She gets tiger scat, no kidding, from the zoo here and spreads it around in here flowers. She has stuff blooming this year that has never had a chance to bloom in the six years we're lived here.
