well .. I'm planning on making the trip.
Depends on my mileage, though. Right now I'm
getting about 65 mpg on the truck.
Unfortunately, that's for power steering fluid.

You did not get many responses. I think people may have forgotten about it. Maybe a date change would be in order and we do something to get people thinking about it again.

Just a thought.

I think it needs to be more organized, the few comments I have heard is that we do not accomplish much. I think I tend to agree. There needs to be value for members to take the time to show up.

Was that a volunteer to do a presentation?

Well, I plan on going anyway.. 'value' or not. Part of the reason I go is that
I have made friends there and only get to catch up with them a few times a
year.

I'm not afraid of you guys. I can do a CA demo, show my triple easy dyeing method. I was there for the first meeting and the old timers have seen this before. They always go out in the store and visit. Next volunteer step up. It is your meeting so step up. Charlie and I split $50 in gas money each trip so we are invested in this meeting each trip. See you all there if it is a go

would really like to get this group rolling again just not sure what to do. we do need more people involved doing demos, discussions and stuff really needs to be a group effort. it worked in the past.
i defiantly agree we need to have more going on at the meetings, i apologize for not getting things set up lately, i have been working a lot, and dealing with some heath issues there as not been anything left to do anything.
ill open to suggestion as to weather we should meet Sunday or not, if we are going to just get together to hang out maybe veterans day turn for the troops would be better there will be more people there.

Since I enjoy the get togethers and I can't make it, I say let's put it off a week or two and see if we can get more people interested in it. As we can see only the regulars are responding.

Or as Steve said, let's use the Turning for the Troops as a regular meeting and set a new agenda.

As has been said, the regulars have seen/done all the demos. The new members need to speak up and tell us what they would like to see. Let's see if we can get them here and start the discussion.

I would love to do a demo but I am new to this and have nothing to share, unless you want to know how to check the wave form pattern on your cars Mass air flow sensor. I think it is too late to cancel. Some people make plans to attend and travel to due so.

So... just curious where this meeting is held? I'm new to the forum and while I did lots of pen turning - been out of the game for over 15 years... just starting to get back into the hobby and always interested to meet folks and learn. Thx!

So... just curious where this meeting is held?

We meet every few months at the Woodcraft store in Springfield MA.
Usually some demos, blank swaps, some bring things for sale (cheap!)
and general bull sessions where we trade small talk, big talk, tall tales,
techniques, tips, more tall tales, bragging rights and brownies with mayo.
I'm bringing some scrimshaw (fake) blanks
(just Sierra and Squires.. OKLAHOMAN has the Jr's)

I was asked to let you know that Neil was taken to the hospital after an injury today and will not make it on Sunday. I will post more info on him as we learn more. Tony (Neil's)

Charlie and I are making the trip. We will hang around and see who shows up. If enough want, I will do the CA demo and also dyeing wood with food coloring.

It looks like Neil blew out another disk in his lower back. He's in a lot of pain and grouchier than normal. He's not going anywhere for a while. They are discussing surgery options and it's not looking positive right now.
