I saw on Lee Valley's website, they have all of the Teknatool chucks & accessories on sale & marked "discontinued". I did look at Craft Supplies & they also have Teknatool on sale, but, not marked discontinued. Has anyone heard any news? Is Teknatool going out of business? Or might this just mean Lee Valley is not going to carry Teknatool any longer.

I have two questions about the chucks. First, I've been looking at chucks for a while & was wondering (other than price) if there is a big difference between the performance Midi Chuck & the G3. I understand the midi is lever operated & the G3 has the key. Second, I have a Wilton mini lathe. Would the Novas be too much weight (3 lbs), or, should I look at the Barracuda Micro chuck (~1 lb).

besides being lever operated, the midi is also a fixed 1" x 8tpi. I think the G3 has inserts that can be changed for different threadings. If your lathe is 1" x 8tpi, then it won't matter for you.

I have the midi, and don't think your lathe would have trouble spinning it. I've had good luck with mine, and would definitely buy it again!

Lee Valley has stopped carrying NOVA for a few years - that 'discontinued' that you see is just their way of clearing out the Teknatool inventory.

Doesn't mean it's not also discontinued by Teknatool, just that Lee Valley doesn't carry them for sure.

Lee Valley's website lists both 3/4" x 16tpi & 1" x 8tpi options for the Midi. Nova must have offered this at some point & Lee Valley hasn't run out of stock.
