I received my Nova Pen Plus jaws last week and mounted them to my Nova Midi chuck and am having an issue closing the jaws down on 3/4" blanks. It won't close down far enough to clamp the blank. Doesn't seem to be catching anywhere and I cleaned everything again. Anyone else run into this issue with this combination?

Here is a picture. See that the pen plus jaws are the only ones attached.

Don't worry, I stared at it for a couple hours myself...

Well, Micheal, did you leave two other jaws on or do you just have the two pens plus jaws mounted?

If you have others on, that is likely your problem. If not, we'll have to think I something else.

When you put a blank in the jaws it should bottom out on top of the attaching screw. It's possible to put the blank farther into the jaws but then the jaws can not close all the way due to the screw head.

Am I too embarrassed to reply. Sorry, I came from the flat board world. It's taking me some time to adapt.

Problem corrected, lessons learned. Thanks again... I won't take so long to respond again either...

Yes, its essential to only insert the blank as far as the step in the bottom of the jaws, trying to go further than this is not safe or accurate.
I have some 12mm square blanks, and the jaws can handle these, however its advisable to ensure that the blank has some clearance between the bottom of the jaws as its just possible for the drill bit to contact the bottom of the jaws.

I didn't remove my other jaws and all works well. I didn't think you had to remove them? Judging by the image that is posted there is relief there for the other jaws. Check to see if you have a burr on the pin jaws.
