Trade Nova G3 & Record Power SC3 1 x 8 for 1 1/4 x 8

Hello,

I have upgraded lathes and I have a Nova G3 and a Record Power SC3 in 1"x8 and I need 1 1/4"x8. I figured rather than try to sell them Id see if someone needed the opposite and wanted to swap. I have the boxes and stuff for them. Id be fine too if they were insert and not direct body thread as well.

Don't the Record Power SC3 chucks have adaptable inserts? All you would need to do is buy the insert for 1-1/4"x8, remove the 1"x8 insert, and replace it with the 1-1/4" one. I did the same thing with my SC3, only in reverse, and I am able to use it on both my midi and full size lathes. Overall I find the SC3 is a very good chuck...superior to any of the Novas I've owned, I think because of the sealing they have (I've never needed to disassemble my RP SC3, while I've had to disassemble all my nova chucks numerous times for cleaning).

There are adapters that would let you use your chucks.

Hold Fast Lathe Spindle Adapter1" x 8 TPI Female to 1-1/4" x 8 Male

The Hold Fast Spindle Adapters convert your lathe spindle so that you can use a chuck with a different thread size. Flats on extenders allow for easy removal with wrench if necessary. Each adapter includes two No Lock Spindle Washers.

I've considered that but the work I do is fairly detailed and I worry about runout and the fact that I would lose some bed length.
