NOVA 3" tool rest

Bought this at Woodcraft (142168) in Detroit in the fall, assuming (wrongly) that 1" was 1" on my lathe..................first thought was to try to reduce the diameter, but after 3 minutes of rough sanding , realized it wasn't going to work, and as well, the post was too long for my lathe. Might have been able to take it back, but after sanding the post, figured my fault (.

Looking to trade for what have you - - as a newbie, anything bright and shiny may be attractive.....

I had a similar issue and a local machine shop bored out my post hole so that 1 inch really was 1 inch.
