Anybody remember Gordon Lightfoot's song, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"?
The Fitzgerald went down 30 years ago today.
Just another non-essential piece of information I thought I'd pass along.

Last year I downloaded the video of GL singing that song. It really got me to focus on the words. And that, in turn, prompted me to do a google search about it. Very interesting and very tragic.

Just watched a show on either the History Channel or Discovery (can't remember which one) about that the other night.

2 years ago My wife and I went to Door County, Wisconsin (Right on the lakes) and went to the maritime museum where we got to hear some actual coast guard recordings of the last radio transmissions from the Edmund Fitzgerald. Kinda spooky.

First time I heard that song was on the way to Tampa to catch a tanker to the far east. Sent a chill up my spine but it was that or stay with my firsy mistake.Figured death was more appealing. Besides I like travel and big ships and tankers are both. Too bad about the men on the Fitz. It happened fast but sometimes pieces of a second feel like minutes. Be sure to remember them.
