Hello All:
Looking through the albums, I seen a name somehow put on the pen, I am guessing underneith the finish. The pen was in jbyrd24's Album. It looked great, but I am baffled on how it was done. Can someone please fill me in?
Thanks
Gary

I believe you are referring to LASER ENGRAVING. This service is best handled by an outsourced specialist that has the necessary equipment. I'm sure that other IAP members will chime in and offer sources within the US.

There are many companies all over the US that do laser engraving if all you want is just a name. Just look in the Yellow Pages under engraving. If you want something really complicated, try Kallenshaan Woods.

Two members of the IAP do laser engraving, Ken Nelsen (www.kallenshaanwoods.com) and Mike/Jen Amison (www.writenthings.com). I've used both and they provide excellent service at reasonable prices.

That was exactly what I was looking for. Now if I just wanted to put say my monogram on all the pens I turn, can I do it with out having to ship them all out? I seen branding irons that might work, I guess. Has anyone ever tried something like that?
Thanks
Gary

You can for sure use the branding irons. My dad has used this on wood crafts that he has made. I don't know about on pens but other items they look nice. It will sometimes leave burn marks so you would have to sand a little around to have a nice clean look. But as stated above we do offer laser engraving at reduced prices for penturners. If we can help in any way please let us know.
