Ebony and Maple. Ebony sanding dust and Maple do not mix. Couldn't get all the dust off the Maple. Probably won't make any more of these blanks.

Try using you skew for a smooth finish and then forgo sanding. I use this technique on segmented pens with good results. That's a good looking blank even with the sanding dust blemishes.

A skew and I are not real good friends. I need more practice. Thanks, good tip.

That is a beautiful pen. I would clean it good with alcohol on the lathe I can usually get most of my dust off with that. Ebony is a tough one though. I love the concept of this pen though!

Gorgeous pen! I love the dark woods. I have had the same problem with blood wood and maple. Any tips on how you made the blank??
