There are all sorts of people with fancy shops and snazzy tools that post pictures of their setups.

How about a few pictures from people who have normal shops and kludge things together to do their projects?

I will go first. This is my new ghetto-fab drying rack. I usually let finishes dry on the lathe, but my toddler was hanging out with mom, so I wanted to be able to keep turning.

Looking around my shop for something to use as a hanging rack, I found a clamp., thus was born the rack.

What you can't see off to the side is my tool sharpen made from a horribly cheap harbor freight lathe. Maybe I will take pictures of that next time.

I started turning almost four years ago, with a lathe and a start up kit from PSI. The lathe bench was in the Living Room of my one bedroom apartment. I've moved five times since then. Each time getting an improvement (expansion). You seem to be able to adapt to what is available. Thanks for posting.

Jason,
Substitute ten nails through a wood plate base, ten dryers no accidents when the clamp slips.

Cheep cheep ghetto sweet.

Regards Peter.

Thats what I did for a while.... Then one day at walmart, I happened to see a thread holder box... it has almost 20 little plastic spikes for holding thread... works great PLUS has a cover, which means I can keep it close by and not get shavings on it while stuff is drying.
