We had a gathering at my place today and 13 turners showed up. One of the things we did is a demo of how I make Bell Christmas Ornaments. This is the bell I made:

Unfornuately it was donated wood so I am not sure what it was. At the point the picture was taken it had been sprayed with a single coat of Deft Gloss rattle-can lacquer.

I was calling it "the liberty bell" for obvious reasons.

The handle looks like cocobolo and the body...maybe maple, possibly ambrosia?

I think that the bell is Eucalyptus Burl. It looks like another piece that I picked up from Jay today.

I think Cindy is pretty close with the BURL and I reckon that Cocobolo would be pretty close as well.
