Noodles

[wood-of-1kind]

I call this veneer design "noodles" for obvious reasons. This is my 'second' plate after my main dish which came to be known as spaghetti was cooked some while back. What you see here is approximately fifty (50) sheets of veneer (12"x12") wrapped around with industrial glue and 'volted' together on a high frequency press. The high frequency press literally 'fries' the veneer and adhesive together with electrical forces capable of immense power.

I definitely like what you are doing with this technique. Veneer and glue...quite a unique idea. I like this one better than the nickel spaghetti. I think you are onto something and I look forward to the next iteration. Are you sure the the blank didn't spalt over night? Looks really nice.

I wish that I owned one, but this HF press is larger than my entire workshop. The press is 12' long x 6' wide and 10' in height. By the way, it's powered by 600V and I'm only wired for 120V. below is a newr version of the "beast"

The blank was "cooked" for 5 minutes and probably consumes as much energy as a typical household consumes in a day.:biggrin:
