No-Press Diva Macacauba

This is a PSI No-Press Diva pen with red crystals. The wood is one I had never heard of before called Macacauba, that I picked up at Woodcraft. The finish is Pens Plus. Pretty pen, but the wood is not as figured as I had hoped. It has coarse open grain, similar to oak.

This was my first no-press pen. The parts screw into the threaded ends of the tube, instead of being pressed.

Overall, a nice pen. . . The girls on my customer list love the red "Diva" !!

I am not a big fan of open-grain woods, but I like the coloration.

I do like the concept of "no-press", but it didn't seem to go anywhere . . . only 4 PSI kits at its introduction and never any more since then.

Well, the tubes have to be thicker, so maybe the tooling was too expensive. What's interesting is the no-press Diva kits are less expensive than the standard kits.

They must be a clearance item by now . . . about 5 or 6 years since introduction . . . maybe limited market acceptance for some reason (?) .

I don't recall ever seeing the word "Clearance" on their website . . . . I think they have a "block" against using such terms.
