With all that goes on in life, I have decided not to post pictures on the forum anymore.
My time is usually very limited and it is getting difficult to post pictures here and on my gallery website. I rather have them in my gallery so, they are all in one place and easily accessible to view at any time, for anyone that cares to visit.
I will come here as often as I can to see the wonderful pens that others are making.

Kelly; I think that would be making a mistake. More people that care will see your work on this site than any other. And since you will already have your photos in in your PC, it's only a click away to post them here. Whatever you do, best of luck. Jim S

I do hope you'll reconsider. There are a lot of us that may not always comment on the pictures, but they give us inspiration to do better at what we do and to show us some ideas that we hadn't thought of.

I agree with the other posts, Kelly. Showing your pens here locally keeps your beautiful designs in focus. When posted off-site, we tend to lose sight. I do hope you reconsider.

Life gets much busier in the summer months. During the winter, there isn't much to do outside or want to do outside.
My lathe is at my in-laws house so, I have to go over there to do any penmaking. When we do get to go over, I get a break from the little ones because grandma and grandpa spend time with them.

I realize it is only a few clicks of the mouse and takes five minutes to post a picture here but, not many people see the post when it gets knocked down a page or two within a day. When there aren't any comments, it just keeps sliding. The comments are reserved for the long time members/vendors and the much better penmakers. With a gallery, they stay on one page and is also, only a click of the mouse to view them. Of course, I might not even get to make another pen until winter.

An IPhone? We refuse to pay the ridiculous cost of cell contracts, it just doesn't make sense for us. It seems like a waste of money.

I know it can be time consuming. I post on Etsy, Ebay, Flickr, Facebook and here. So it can get difficult. I usually try to post the most I can on Etsy and Ebay for the listings. The others I usually only post one or two my favorites, and occasionally group shots of several at once to minimize the time involvement.

I normally don't get too many comments either, but sharing them with others that are doing the same thing as me seems to be the best way to get honest critiques from others that share my craft.

That's nice to get some time to yourself at the in-laws. I guess it limits the amount of time / frequency you can turn though. I know if I had to go somewhere other than home, I would turn a lot less. I'm usually in the garage (shop) every afternoon while waiting for my so to get off the bus. He gets off and says , "Are you making another pen!" Or "how much longer is that going to take?" He seems to like the finished products more than the process!

If I had to download and upload to the net etc, I probably wouldn't want to post much. Although its not that hard, it is a bit of a nuisance.

Smartphones do come with an expense for sure! For me, it's well worth it. For others, not so much. We all have to pick and choose which things to spend our money on.

Besides pen kits which come in line after the mortgage. JUST KIDDING!

I have said this before, but it has been a while.

GENERALLY, people will look at your pen posts, if you have, in the past, commented on THEIRS! They will comment if the pen they are seeing prompts some comment. Especially with the "like" button, that can substitute for a comment.

Taking a page (18 threads) of SOYP from a couple weeks ago, there were 6240 views and 156 comments. ( I did NOT open each thread and count "likes"). This means an average of 8.2 comments per pen.

Kelly, you started 5 pen threads, two of which are not yet "dead". You enjoyed an average of TEN comments on each one. Exceeding the norm by 15%!!!

But the VIEWS were 2609!!! This exceeds the average VIEWS by FIFTY percent.

Your posts are really QUITE popular, by comparison to others.

Kelly, I think you should keep posting. Even though it gets frustrating at times. I could take a look at your site, but I doubt I would keep going back to see IF there is anything new. Just my thoughts.

Did you really just take the time to tell us you dont have the time? We all post pics of pens we think are the "Bomb" and "best pen ever" only to have them slide in the daily grind of the forum. Some people will not look or comment on a pen due to hundreds of reasons. Find time, even if its not alot, its cheaper than therapy!

I think my post was misunderstood. I wasn't complaining that I didn't get a lot of comments, rather that without the comments, the post drifts off and people don't see it.

Mr. Ed, thank you for the interesting statistics.

Kelly,
Some of us do not even turn well enough to post a pen.
I am blessed that you are very talented and share your talent with us.
Do what you think best. But from Ed's numbers you will be missed.
