No More Carba-Tec Lathes

I noticed that the #1 MT Carba-Tec lathe is no longer carried by PSI. I felt that this lathe was a great starter lathe for the pen turner. Sorry to see it go.

The mini lathe from Harbor Freight is more than adequate to replace it as a starter lathe. And at $100-ish a great deal.

I had one for a while. Very stable for its size.

Thanks Don. I have a HF mini lathe and have turned hundreds of pens on it. In fact I posted a thread about how I modified it for pen turning. The first time I saw a Carba-Tec was in Dick Sing's pen turning book. You are right about the HF lathe I got mine for an additional 20% off with a coupon. I think it cost me $79.00.
