Hello all,
I'm new to turning.I bought my first wood lathe back in August. Its a Rikon mini and love it.Ever since I turned mybfirst piece of wood I've been hooked.I was at my local woodcraft store a little over a week ago and got my first pen mandrel and 3 slimline pen kits. The Guy there said you sure you only want three.I said yeah they'll hold me over a few days.Well I got home and turned my first pen right away, then another, then another, then I wanted more. But woodcraft was closed by then, and had to wait til morning.Went back the next day and bought every slim kit they had that was on sale and even some wall street II's and bushing set.Guy there said I knew you would be back. Now they know me by name.I guess its safe to say I'm hooked.I have been lurking around reading everything I can and just mesmerized buy some of the stuff I have seen.So far I have done a few in wood and antler and acrylics.I just wanna make more.My neighbor seen some of my pens and is wanting me to do some for him. Thanks for listening errr I mean reading I look forward to learning more from this wonderful site and possibly giving some input as well.

Welcome to the forum from Alberta, Canada. This hobby starts out being cheap until one see's all the goodies that one can make and then it get's expensive. This is not counting all the tools and lathe accessories that I know you will need/want within the next little while. Have fun, its a great hobby.

Hi John, welcome to the fray!

Hope you can make it down to the Roswell/Alpharetta Woodcraft for our Georgia IAP meeting in December (drill down thru the "Local Chapters" link at the top of this site to find more info).

Welcome from Powder Springs, GA. We all know what it's like to start down the slippery slope of the pen turning addition. Truth be told, very few of us really want to or could give it up.. Welcome, hope you will be able to attend our Georgia Chapter meetings.

Welcome from down South of the border.
I am new here and at turning too.
I haven't done any actual turning yet since I just bought my starters pen turning kit and I haven't received it yet. My hands are itching to start!!!!
