Hey Guys, I am a green newbie at making pens. i have made about 20
from rifle brass.

right now i am using a plan jane tip from a bic pen to fit into my brass which is sized at about .284
I am looking for a better looking tip. \\

size .284 or .308

these grey, ugly tip are not getting it, So far, I have found kits
I do not want kits, the middle and end, I like as is or i solider a brass
shell with bullet onto it.

or a football LOI

If anyone, has some,,, we can/ might do some horse trading

I have a 8''x 8''x 4 1/2'' piece of chestnut

i was going to use it to make knife handles,
it came out of a 100 + year old barn this was a tendon on a beam

There are several articles in the library on making bullet pens. One that might be a bit overkill is http://content.penturners.org/library/pens/50BMG.pdf The link to the library is up towards the top of the page. There's a vast wealth of knowledge there.

I seem to recall reading somewhere (probably was on this forum, but could have been elsewhere) a tutorial of sorts where the person making the bullet pen used a projectile sourced from an ammunition reloading vendor. I know MidwayUSA has a bunch of different bullets for reloading. There are others whose names escape me at the moment. The part I remember from that tutorial was that most of the bullet was drilled away to allow the pen's refill to pass through it.

Just be careful if you try removing the projectile from a live rifle cartridge. There are a few safe ways to do that and a bunch that are really pretty hazardous. :eek:
