I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. I am some what new to pen turning but not completely new to wood working. I started do some wood working in 2001. I was at a Sears store looking at some non wood working tools and saw a little kit to make a music box. My wife liked it and said I should buy it. So then I had to buy a table saw and a few other tools to make the music box. I went from the music box to making some furniture. In the past few years I have refaced my bother's and my parent's kitchen cabinets. Anyway back to pen turning, I bought starter kit from PSI about 2 years ago and a Wilton mini lathe from Menards. I turned a few slimlines and kind of forgot about it. My dad turned 60 this past month and I was looking for something to give him that might mean a little more to him then some store bought gift. But I am unemployed at the time so I couldn't go too crazy with the gift. Then I remembered I still had a few slimline pen and pencil kits left over. So I ran to the local Rockler store and picked up some acrylic blanks that were his favorite color. I turned those and they came out pretty well. But now I seem to have an a need to turn a bunch of pens. I had forgot how much fun I had when I turned the first few a couple years back. I have been looking through this site for the last week or so and reading lots of good info. I have also talked to a few local people and am planning on getting together at the next meeting. Any way I just wanted to say hello to everyone.
