Hi all,

I am brand new to the craft of pen turning, or any kind of wood turning really. I've always wanted to learn to do this, and finally saved up my pennies and bought a benchtop lathe over the Summer. I've managed to turn about 8 slimline pens so far this week, and really enjoy this stuff.

I own and operate a vinyl sign/graphic shop from my home, and the pen turning is more for hobby than a business, though if I get decent at this, I may put a few up for sale just for kicks.

I've been lurking about the forum for a week or so and finally registered. I've already learned a ton from you guys and hope to be able to contribute something soon.

Thanks for having me!
Bill

Welcome to the pocket draining hobby from Sumter. I am fairly new at this my self. Not sure if you know but we have a pen turners club at mantool supply. The next meeting will be nov 5 at 100-200 I believe times may be off I will have to check. Any way welcome

Welcome Bill, hope you can make it to the Carolina Pen Club Meeting in November. The meeting is on the 5th from 1:00 to 2:30. Hans is going to do a demonstration on making a pen using decoupage. Hope to see you there. We meet at Mann Tool 802 Chris Dr. W Columbia. We are located in the local chapters forum under Carolina.

Welcome! May be a long haul but we are having an IAP GA chapter meeting on Dec 17 in Norcross (NE Atlanta). Love to have you join us.

Wow, sorry guys I got busy with work and kids. Thanks for all the welcomes!

Obviously I missed the November meeting, and would likely miss anything in December as well (Have two kids with birthdays in December, and Christmas of course) But if there's anything going on in January, I'd love to be a part of it!
