About three months ago, Dave (Ssajn) invited a gentleman to demonstrate at one of our IAP Milwaukee chapter meetings.

Dave had also asked for some samples of the Woodturner's Finish to give to a select few members. (I was NOT one)

So, we watched as a pen was finished with the General Finishes Woodturner's Finish---several coats were applied on the lathe, until it looked "shiney". Pretty impressive.

Then, Jason Swanson mentioned that he had done a peppermill a couple weeks earlier--he loved the way the Woodturner's Finish worked on the peppermill!! Also, Jon had done a few pens--he said the product worked great!! Dave agreed that his pens looked good after being treated a couple weeks ago.

So, it seems to me we should let everyone in IAP see the same sort of demo---hence the YouTube.

so - what was the shine and feel of the finished product?

shine like CA, but still have a "woody" feel to it?

have to you tried using a Beall-type buffing system after applying the finish to see what results that might have?

The guys who used it were impressed with the shine and feel.

I have not yet sanded the pen I made in the vid.

Yes, it feels like wood---not CA. But, I will sand it with 1500 or 2000, just cause I like pens that feel "smooth as a baby's_____"

Bearing in mind I have never really liked CA--cause I like my wood pens to feel like wood (I make a whole lot of plastic pens, which are fine when they feel like plastic), I think this is a great product that fills a "hole" in the available finishes.

I was particularly interested in Jason's comments. He has made a study of finishes and I respect his judgment.

I looked on your site - what is pricing going to be for each size?

Also - since I've been thinking about it - I believe some of the folks at my local club have been raving about this product the last few meetings and some of them did buff their stuff (bowls, mostly) and it does produce a fine, shiny finish without a "plastic-y" look and feel that I usually see with finishes like Waterlox. (if my memory serves correctly)
